Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC)

1)Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Programs(CSC type A, Awarded by the Chinese Embassy in your country or the relevant Education Ministry in your country）

The Bilateral Program includes all scholarships established by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in accordance with educational exchange agreements or consensus between Chinese government and governments of other countries, institutions, universities, or international organizations.

Eligibility

1. The applicant must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China and be in good health.

2. The applicants must:

·     Be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs.

·     Be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master’s programs.

·     Be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.

·     Be under the age of 45 and have a high school diploma (or higher) when applying for the general scholar programs.

·     Be a master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for the senior scholar programs.

2. University Programs(CSC Type B, Apply through our university, agency number:11414)

1）Chinese Government Scholarship, ‘Silk Road’ Program

Eligibility

1.      Applicants must be nationals of countries that are part of the ‘One Belt One Road’ initiative.

2.      Applicants must be a citizen of non-Chinese nationality from countries along the Silk Roads

3.      Bachelor’s applicants should have a minimum Chinese Proficiency of HSK 3(180) to be eligible to apply.

·   Master’s and Ph.D. applicants for Chinese taught programs must have at least HSK 4 (180) to be eligible to apply.

·   Those with the minimum required Chinese language proficiency but who do not meet language requirements for direct entry into their Majors will partake in a one-year Chinese language course.

·   The requirement to go directly into major study without Chinese language study is HSK 4 (222) for Bachelor students and HSK 5 (180) for Chinese taught masters and Ph.D. programs.

4.      Masters and Ph.D. applicants for English taught programs must have at least IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 80, or an official letter from their former university stating English as the teaching language if they had their previous studies conducted in English for at least 2 years.

5.      The applicants must:

·     Be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs.

·     Be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master’s programs.

·     Be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.

Eligible Majors:

·       Undergraduate Majors (Only Chinese Taught):

Resource Exploration Engineering，Finance，Computer Science and Technology,  Petroleum Engineering.

·       Postgraduate Majors:

Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering, Finance（Only Chinese Taught），Computer Science and Technology（Only Chinese Taught）.

Note: The countries and majors that can apply for this program are subject to the application system Settings of our university. If you cannot select this scholarship in the system, it means that it does not qualify for the application scope of the program.

2) Chinese Government Scholarship - High Level Postgraduate Program

Application Requirements:

1. The applicant must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China and be in good health.

2. Age, Academic background and language requirements:

·       Applicants for a master’s degree should hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, have excellent academic performance and be under the age of 35.

·       Applicants for doctoral programs should hold a master’s degree or equivalent educational level, have excellent academic performance, and be under the age of 40.

·       Applicants for master’s or Doctor’s degree programs with Chinese as the professional teaching language must have a Chinese proficiency level of HSK 4.

·       For Chinese-taught programs, the language requirement for master’s and Doctor’s degree applicants for direct entry into their major is HSK 5 (180).

·       Master’s and doctoral candidates applying for English-taught programs must have at least an IELTS 6.5 score, a TOEFL 80 score, or an official letter from their former university stating English as the teaching language if they had their previous studies conducted in English for at least 2 years.

Scholarship Benefits

1. Exempt from paying all tuition fees

2. Provide free dormitory. If students choose to live off campus, the university will provide accommodation allowance (700 RMB per month for undergraduates, masters and ordinary students; Doctoral students and advanced scholars: RMB 1000 per month).

3. Living expenses:

Undergraduate students: 2500 RMB/month

Master's students and general scholars: 3000 RMB/month

PhD students and advanced scholars: 3500 RMB/month

4. Comprehensive health insurance premiums:

800 RMB/person/year

RMB 400 / person (study duration less than 6 months)

China University of Petroleum (Beijing) - Beijing Government Foreign Students Scholarship (LOCAL GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP)

The China University of Petroleum (Beijing) - Beijing Government Foreign Students Scholarship was set up to attract outstanding foreign students into our university, promote the quality of international students' education, cultivate international talents with global vision and cross-cultural communication ability and constantly improve their international influence and competitiveness. The selection and evaluation of CUPB scholarship adhere to the principles of fairness, openness and merit. The scholarship program is only available to 2024 freshmen and later.

Eligibility

1. The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen, be healthy, law abiding and have no criminal  record. The applicant must meet the basic requirements for admission of international students in our School, to (be eligible) study in China;

2. Language level requirements:

·   English-taught majors:

  (1) Applicants for undergraduate programs need to provide IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 75 or above, or proof of language proficiency at the corresponding level. Applicants with strong Chinese proficiency are preferred.

  (2) Applicants for graduate programs need to provide IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 80 or above, or provide proof of language proficiency at the appropriate level. Strong Chinese proficiency is an advantage;

  Execptions：Applicants from countries whose official language is English and want to apply for English-taught majors do not need to provide proof of English proficiency。

·     Chinese-taught majors:

   (1) Undergraduate programs require applicants to have a Chinese proficiency of 222 or above at HSK-4 level.

   (2) The postgraduate programs require applicants to have Chinese proficiency at HSK-5 level or above.

3. The requirements for applicants’ degree and age are that applicants must:

·     Be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for the undergraduate programs.

·     Be a bachelor's degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master's programs.

·     Be a master's degree holder under the age of 45 when applying for the doctoral programs.

Required materials for application

1. Scanned copies of all China visa pages and China entry and exit record pages, passport photos with white background, photo size 480x720

2. The highest academic certificate and transcript, with an average score of more than 70% (non-Chinese or English materials need to provide certified Chinese/English translations)

3. Certificate of Language Proficiency

4. Study and research plan

5. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Health Certificate) (Laboratory report must be attached)

6. Certificate of no criminal record

7. Two recommendation letters (associate professor or above) (required for postgraduate program applications)

8. Acceptance letter from supervisor (It is recommended that applicants for master's programs have a letter of acceptance from supervisors , applicants for Ph.D programs must have a letter of acceptance from supervisors)

Important Notes

1.      This scholarship is open to all majors of China University of Petroleum (Beijing);

2.      Scholarship students should participate in the annual assessment on time every year. Students who do not participate in the annual assessment without any reason will be disqualified from continuing to enjoy the scholarship;

3.      For applicants who have committed fraud in the selection and annual evaluation of scholarships, once verified the school has the right to cancel their eligibility for scholarship awards.
